The Nexus consortium, made up of Cintra and Ferrovial Agroman, Plenary Group, Acciona and Transfield Services, will design, construct, fund, operate and maintain the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing highway in Queensland (Australia), for a value of around 1.1 billion euros. This project involves the construction of 41 kilometres of a new 4-lane highway (2 lanes in each direction), with a concession period of 25 years after being open to traffic, which is planned for the end of 2018.
A bypass around the city of Toowoomba, which will improve traffic conditions in the region. It will reduce journey times of heavy commercial vehicles by an average of up to 40 minutes. As a result it will reduce heavy vehicle traffic, which currently has to go through the centre of the city.
This concession is Cintra's first investment in Australia, strengthening the company's presence and position for future opportunities on the market.
